There's a 1-2 week wait for most appointments, the receptionists have a gatekeeper mentality and the doctors are usually condescending and in a bad mood. The nurses seem to be ok though. Mental health issues are serious conditions and should be treated as such rather than being brushed off or leaving me feeling like I'm an annoying unimportant child for asking for help or better treatment.

We book routine appointments up to six weeks in advance and we keep a percentage of 'on the day appointments' for patients who do not feel they can wait longer than a week. We also have a duty doctor who takes all the 'urgent' appointments (for those patients who cannot wait longer than a day) This is why the Receptionist will ask if the problem you are calling about is urgent? She may also ask you what is the nature of the complaint. This is to ensure you are guided to the most appropriate clinician. We also have telephone appointments with GPs or Nurses...are you aware of those? Can I also reassure you that we take Mental Health issues just as seriously as any other chronic disease. We actually employ a Mental Health Nurse who helps manage these patients and their complex conditions. She is afforded more time than the GP to assess and triage. We are sorry if you felt 'brushed off'' and that you felt our staff were in a bad mood. Please feel free to contact the Practice Manager should you want to discuss things further.

I have been a patient at this surgery for many years and have never had any complaints with them. I have always managed to get an appointment the same day if it was an urgent condition and find the on-line booking system very easy for routine appointments. I would recommend this surgery.
